Hi, I’m Caroline! I’m a certified high school math teacher who has taught/tutored 6th-8th Math, Algebra I, Algebra II, Probability & Statistics, Precalculus, Calculus, and Differential Equations. My experience/credentials:- B.A., Mathematics, University of Pennsylvania, magna cum laude
- 5 years high school math teaching experience (including as department chair)
- 10 years tutoring experience

Approach

You can’t memorize problem solving — you have to really understand it.
I teach the big picture and break down abstract concepts into simple explanations so students understand the “why” behind what they’re doing. This level of learning is lasting.The best teachers place themselves in students’ shoes.
I know how to anticipate common misconceptions and share helpful study tips and materials from my classroom teaching.A challenge is not a bad thing.
I am positive and encouraging, teaching students to have faith in themselves and bounce back from mistakes. I don’t just teach math — I teach the life skills of confidence and perseverance.

Rates

Payment is due at each session or may be paid in advance (e.g., monthly) for convenience. I'm confident my tutoring will meet your needs: your first session is free if you're not satisfied. My rate is $60/hr for courses up through Calculus (please contact me for rates on more advanced courses).I will meet at a mutually convenient location, and I accept both standing and occasional appointments.
